A house in Co Donegal has been sealed off as gardaí investigate reports that human remains may be buried there.
A search is under way at the house at Leck Cottages in the Oldtown area of Letterkenny.
Sources have stressed that the investigation has nothing to do with the current owner of the house whose garden is being searched.
Gardaí have removed a number of items, including a coal bunker from the garden of the house.
A mini excavator has also been brought on site.
The owner of the house has been briefed on the matter and it is understood the remains may be historical in nature.
Gardaí began the investigation following a call from a member of the public.
