Man, 20s, airlifted to hospital after assault in Donegal

Gardaí are investigating after two men were seriously assaulted at a house in Lifford, Co Donegal.

A man in his 20s was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast, for treatment of serious injuries.

A second man in his 60s was brought by ambulance to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment of less serious injuries.

A technical examination is under way at the scene and gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the incident at around 10am this morning to come forward.

A local person from the area, who did not want to be named, said people in the Lifford area were stunned that an attack like this could happen in their area.

"There's a sense of fear in the community," they said.

Anyone with camera footage (including dashcam) from Coneyburrow Road, Lifford, between 10am and 11am this morning, are asked to make it available to gardaí.
