Status Yellow rain and wind warnings issued

A Status Yellow rain warning is in place for Donegal with Met Éireann forecasting spells of heavy rain with the possibility of localised flooding, difficult travelling conditions and poor visibility.

The warning came into effect at 11am and will remain in place until 11am tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Met Éireann has issued a Yellow wind warning for strong to gale force and gusty southwest winds for Donegal, Galway and Mayo for tomorrow.

The warning is valid from midnight tonight until 11am tomorrow.

The forecaster is warning of the possibility of fallen branches, trees and debris with difficult travelling conditions and wave overtopping due to onshore winds and high seas, particularly during high tide.

In Northern Ireland, a status Yellow wind warning has been issued for Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry for tomorrow.

The UK Met Office is warning of strong westerly winds that may lead to some travel disruption on New Year's Eve.

The warning is valid from 6am to 7pm tomorrow.
