A woman in her 70s has died and a second pedestrian was injured after they were struck by a car in west Belfast at the weekend.

Police said the incident occurred in the Hannahstown Hill area on Saturday evening.

Inspector Cherith Adair said police received a report about the incident shortly after 6.50pm on Saturday, and said the car involved had also collided with another vehicle.

She said: "Sadly, one of the pedestrians, a female in her 70s, later died from her injuries in hospital.

"The second female pedestrian received treatment for injuries which are not believed to be life threatening while the vehicle drivers were uninjured."
