A man in his 50s has died in a drowning incident in Co Donegal.

The man, who was originally from Belgium, had been diving with a local group when the incident happened.

They had been scuba diving in the Na Dúnaibh area and around 30km off Toraigh in northwest of the county yesterday afternoon.

The man was taken from the water by Malin Coastguard and taken to Letterkenny University Hospital.

However, he was later pronounced dead.

A file on the incident is now being prepared for the Coroner’s Court.
