It will be a real shock if the DUP's Sammy Wilson does not retain a seat he has held since 2005.
The maverick politician has been a thorn in the side of the party leadership in recent years and a vocal opponent of its deal with the British government on post-Brexit trade arrangements.
He branded the UK Government as "spineless, weak-kneed and Brexit betraying" and resigned as DUP Chief Whip in the House of Commons in protest at the deal.
There was a swing of just over 12% away from the DUP in East Antrim in the 2019 General Election, but Mr Wilson still won comfortably with a majority of 6,706.
The Alliance Party saw its vote increase by just under 12%, which saw it leapfrog the Ulster Unionists into second place in the constituency for the first time.
The party’s candidate, Danny Donnelly, has since been elected to the Stormont Assembly.
The Ulster Unionist vote in the constituency collapsed in 2019 when the party leader at the time, Steve Aiken, parachuted himself in.
This time the candidate is another Stormont Assembly member, John Stewart, who lives in the area and has a high profile.
Despite Sammy Wilson’s harsh criticism of his party’s deal with the British government, the Traditional Unionist Voice - which has accused the DUP of selling out on the so-called Irish Sea Border - is fielding a candidate against him.
In the 2022 Assembly election the party secured 3,661 first preferences, just over 9% of the total votes and it will hope to build on that.
Much to the annoyance of TUV leader Jim Allister, the leader of Reform UK Nigel Farage has publicly endorsed Sammy Wilson, despite the two parties entering a formal election for the UK General Election.
The consensus is that Sammy Wilson will hold the seat, possibly with a reduced majority, with the focus on whether the Ulster Unionists can stem the electoral surge of the Alliance Party in recent years and regain second place.
