A Cavan woman, who is believed to have been Ireland's oldest woman, has died aged 108.

Bridget Tierney, from Drumgore, Loughduff, passed away peacefully in the care of her family, according to a notice on RIP.ie.

The great-great grandmother was born in July 1915 and was a mother of nine.

She had 30 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.

Last month Kitty Jeffrey, who was believed to be Ireland's oldest women, died in her 110th year.
