A man has been arrested over the attempted murder of Detective Chief Inspector John Caldwell in Co Tyrone last year.

The PSNI said they arrested a 44-year-old man under the Terrorism Act in the Dungannon area.

The man has been taken to Musgrave serious crime suite in Belfast for questioning.

The PSNI said a property was also searched and a number of items were removed for further examination.

DCI Caldwell was shot multiple times at a sports complex in Omagh, Co Tyrone, in February 2023, in an attack linked to dissident republicans.
