Watch: Four rescued after boat runs aground off Donegal coast

Four people have been rescued after a fishing boat ran aground off the coast of Co Donegal in the early hours of this morning.

The Rescue Coordination Centre at Malin Head in Donegal received a distress call from the vessel around 6am.

It had run aground at Inis Meáin off the west coast of Donegal, close to Gaoth Dobhair.

The Sligo-based rescue helicopter R118 was immediately tasked to the scene along with the all-weather lifeboat from Árainn Mhór and the Bunbeg Coastguard Unit.

All four people were recovered from the fishing vessel by the helicopter crew and landed ashore at Aerfort Dhún na nGall.

The Irish Coastguard said that all of those rescued are doing well and that they required no medical attention.
