Funeral of last victim of Armagh crash takes place

The funeral has taken place of the last of three people who died in a road crash on the way home from a birthday party in Co Armagh.

Ciera Grimley's requiem mass took place at St Joseph's Church in Madden, near the village of Keady.

She died in hospital a week after the crash on the Mowhan Road, Markethill, on Saturday 4 November, which claimed the life of her husband Patrick.

The couple had three young children.

A family friend and mother-of-four Ciara McElvanna also died of her injuries several days after the crash.

Her funeral took place in Madden on Saturday.

The friends were coming home in a taxi from Mr Grimley's 40th birthday party when a four vehicle crash occurred.

Police today returned to the scene as their investigation into the cause of the crash continues.

A number of people are still seriously ill in hospital.

The community of Madden has been stunned by the tragedy.

Patrick Grimley was secretary of Madden Raparees GAA Club.

The club paid tribute to him and the other victims of the tragedy, describing Mr Grimley as a wonderful family man.

"His love for our club was also well known and he will be terribly missed by all those who knew him, not just in Madden but further afield also," it said.

Fr Seán O'Neill told mourners there were "no words" for the tragedy which had been inflicted on the families involved.
