A cyclist in her 70s has died following a collision with a car in Co Monaghan town this afternoon.
Gardaí and emergency services are attending the scene on Cootehill Road, close to Monaghan town.
The collision involving a car and a bicycle occurred at around 1.20pm.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was taken to Monaghan Hospital where a post mortem will take place.
The road is currently closed for an examination by garda forensic collision investigators. Local diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing to any road users or pedestrians who may have camera footage, and who were travelling on Cootehill Road, Co Monaghan, today between 12.30pm and 1.30pm, to make this footage available to gardaí.
