The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has put in place corrective actions to avoid further pollution into a stream connected to the River Finn in Co Donegal.

The EPA received notification from Aurivo Consumer Foods on Tuesday afternoon of an accidental release from their facility to the Crossroads Stream which flows into the River Finn in Killygordon.

The Loughs Agency has reported the deaths of hundreds of fish as a result of the release, among them young salmon, trout and eels.

Yesterday, the agency asked that anyone who finds dead fish in the area to contact them.

The EPA is liaising with Donegal County Council as well as the Loughs Agency to assess the impact of the spill and samples have been take for further analysis.
