A 31-year-old man has been charged following an aggravated burglary at the home of a couple in Letterkenny, Co Donegal.
Christopher Orr, of Cullion Road, Letterkenny, was charged with three counts of assault, two charges of possession of an offensive weapon and with trespassing at Glenard Park in Letterkenny last night.
Buncrana District Court heard that a man entered the home at Glenard Park at 7.55pm last night.
A woman in her 40s and a man in his 20s were injured in the incident which was reported to gardaí.
The man was located by gardaí a short time later, arrested and brought to Letterkenny Garda Station where he was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
Garda Sean McDaid said gardaí had no objection to bail but asked Judge Éiteáin Cunningham that a number of conditions be imposed.
They include that Mr Orr stay away from the two named individuals, that he does not go near Glenard Park and that he provides gardaí with a mobile phone number and signs on three times a week at Letterkenny Garda Station.
Solicitor Michael Shiel said his client had no issue complying with all conditions.
Legal aid was also granted to Mr Orr who was granted bail on his own bond of €200.
The case was adjourned until 8 May to Letterkenny District Court to get directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
