Funeral of Tyrone crash victim takes place

The funeral of one three people killed in a head on collision in Co Tyrone on St Stephen's Day took place today.

Patrick Rogers, 26, was the driver of one of the vehicles involved in the crash close to Cookstown on Monday afternoon.

Hundreds of mourners gathered for his funeral service at St Joseph and St Malachy's Church in Drummullan, just outside Cookstown.

His wife Shannon, who was injured in the collision, watched via webcam from hospital.

The couple’s four young children were also hurt and treated in hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The funerals of the other two victims of the crash, Mr Rogers' mother-in-law 52-year-old Mary Duffy and the driver of the other vehicle, 80-year-old Jennifer Acheson, will take place tomorrow.

Ms Acheson is a sister of former senior Ulster Unionist politician John Taylor, who now sits in the UK's House of Lords as cross-bench peer, Baron Kilclooney.
