Boy, 5, dies following Derry road collision

A five-year-old boy has died following a road collision in Co Derry.

The PSNI said Ollie Simmons-Watt died after he was hit by a van while riding his bicycle in the Irwin Avenue area of Limavady at around 3.40pm yesterday afternoon.

He was taken to hospital, but was later pronounced dead.

Sergeant Amanda McIvor said the road, which was closed following the collision, has since reopened.
