A team of rowers will leave Malin Head in Donegal at 6am tomorrow to row to Scotland.
The crew will leave Port Mór pier for Islay, the most southerly island of the Inner Hebrides to cover the distance of about 80km.
"Pulling for the Hospice" is made up of nine men and women who have been training for a year to take on the challenge in aid of Friends of Inishowen Hospice.
Building up stamina in the gym and rowing to islands such as Inishtrahull, home of Ireland's most northerly lighthouse, the crew has set a target of 12 hours to complete the journey.
Organiser John Farren said the family of every member of the crew has been affected by cancer in one way or another.
He said they aim to raise at least €40,000 for the hospice through sponsorship and donations on their Go Fund Me page.
