The requirement to prove vaccination status to enter pubs, restaurants and cinemas in Northern Ireland is being removed from today.

Nightclubs - which were closed on St Stephen's Day - will also reopen, and indoor standing events can recommence.

The moves were announced last week by the Stormont Executive and will take effect from midday.

The decision was made after health officials advised politicians that the peak of the Omicron wave had passed.

The use of Covid-19 passes for hospitality is still being recommended by the executive but it is now in guidance only.

Nightclubs however, will continue to have to ask customers to produce one for entry and it will also be required for standing or partially seated events attended by more than 500 people.

From today, the legal requirement for offices to ensure two-metre social distancing goes, although guidance is that risk assessments should be carried out.

People continue to be advised to work from home where possible.

The Executive will meet again on 10 February to consider the remaining restrictions.

These include the mandatory wearing of face masks in retail and on public transport and the requirement for track and trace in hospitality.
