Two men have been arrested as part of an investigation into criminal activity linked to North Antrim UDA.

The men, both aged 53, were arrested under the Terrorism Act after the vehicle they were travelling in was stopped by police in the Ballycastle road area of Coleraine in Co Antrim at around 9pm last night.

Police said the arrests are "linked to human rights abuses being carried out by North Antrim UDA, including [a] range of violent incidents such as shootings and violent assault".

In a statement, police said: "We will continue to work with our partners and communities across north Antrim to relentlessly tackle the scourge of criminals who use the threat of violence in an attempt to coercively take control of peoples' lives."
