Northern Ireland's Deputy First Minister Michelle O'Neill has said now is the time to talk and plan for "something better" in relation to a united Ireland.

On RTÉ's Late Late Show, Ms O’Neill said now was the time for dialogue, and for putting the information out there for people.

Ms O'Neill said there are so many things that could be better in Northern Ireland where both identities can live side by side.

When asked what Arlene Foster might say about a United Ireland, she said unionists will never stop being unionists but that both sides will have to come to the table with an open mind.

She said partition had failed Northern Ireland, adding that it was the slowest growing economy across the islands.

On the subject of integrated education she said there is a role for it but that it is not the panacea.

"A secular education is where we all want to be but the problems of society cannot be hung on the education system," she said.

Describing her relationship with Arlene Foster, she said has a "fairly decent" one and that they have a lot of things in common.

She said they both face a lot of misogyny .

When asked about the database of voters she Ms O’Neill said she wasn’t across all of the detail in relation to it but she is very confident the party complied with all the rules in relation to GDPR.
