At least 2,000 pigs have died in a fire on a farm in Co Down.
The farrowing house at Glenmarshal Pedigree Pig, a shed where sows and their piglets were kept, was destroyed.
Owner Trevor Shields told BBC News that fire fighters did a "tremendous job" in stopping the fire from spreading.
"In layman's terms it's the maternity ward and there were 140 sows in there with baby piglets, up to about three weeks old," Mr Shields said.
"Total number somewhere around 2,000 and they are just gone, which is very sad."
Firefighters worked in difficult conditions to prevent the fire spreading, however, it is believed that 1500 – 2000 pigs have perished. 1 casualty suffered minor burns. The fire was brought under control by 11.50 pm & the cause of the fire is believed to be accidental ignition.

Four fire crews attended the scene and the blaze was brought under control by midnight.
Special animal rescue teams worked alongside fire crews at the scene.
One of the farm workers is understood to have suffered slight burns to his feet and was treated at the scene before being brought to hospital.
The fire is being treating as an accident.
