A 26-year-old woman has died following a road incident in Melbourne in Australia.
Mary Ellen Molloy from Edergole, Ardara, Co Donegal, who was working as a nurse, died after a tree fell on a car she was travelling in with two of her friends yesterday afternoon.
One of Ms Molloy's friends was injured and requires surgery; the other female passenger was not harmed in the incident.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has said it is aware of the case and is providing consular assistance to Ms Molloy's family.
Ardara GAA posted a message of sympathy on the club's Facebook page saying: "Mary Ellen was a beautiful girl with a permanent smile who lit up every room she walked into. Her love for her family was always so evident whenever they were together."
Meanwhile, St Kevin's GAC Melbourne said it has set up a Go Fund Me Page "to assist the families in this heartbreaking time".
In a post on its Facebook page, the club said it is "heartbroken with this terrible tragedy affecting three of our members, our entire family and community."
Ms Molloy's repatriation and funeral arrangements will be confirmed later.
