Three police officers in Fermanagh entered a lake last night to rescue a woman from a submerged car.
The woman is in a critical condition.
The alarm was raised at 10.25pm last night, when police received a report that a car may have entered the water at Muckros Pier on the Boa Island Road in Kesh.
A nearby police patrol responded and the two officers on board spotted the vehicle in the water. Both of them entered the lake and managed to free the woman from the sinking car.
A third police officer who had arrived on the scene also entered the water to make sure that no on else was inside the car.
The woman was taken to hospital where her condition this morning is described as critical.
The police officers were treated in hospital after the incident.
Inspector John Gordon of the PSNI said: "I commend the brave actions of the police officers involved and my thoughts and prayers are with the female and her family this morning."
