Fancy buying a hotel on Ireland's most remote inhabited island?

Óstan Thóraigh, the only hotel on Toraigh, the Gaeltacht island 14km off the coast of Donegal, is up for sale.

It has been put on the market by the current owner Sean Doherty, who is retiring.

Mr Doherty, who is also the former lighthouse keeper on the island, is offering the hotel for sale as a going concern.

Comprising 14 bedrooms with a bar and restaurant, it is on the market for offers over €400,000.

Facing the pier, it is currently operated on a seasonal basis but selling agents, Glen Estates, say the landmark property offers an exciting opportunity to the new owners.

Two ferry services operate between the mainland and the island, which is famed for its history, mythology, primitive art school, bird-watching and landscape.

The closing date for offers is Wednesday, 31 July, 2019.
