Investigations are under way after two ATMs were stolen counties Cavan and Tyrone in the early hours of this morning.

A digger was used to remove an ATM from the Bank of Ireland on Main Street in Kingscourt, Co Cavan, at around 4am.

The ATM was put on trailer being towed by a light-coloured SUV, which left the town towards Carrickmacross.

The scene has been sealed off for a technical examination.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact Bailleboro Garda Station on 042-9694570.

The Bank of Ireland said it expects the Kingscourt branch will open again on Tuesday with an internal ATM.

Meanwhile, the PSNI is investigating after a digger was used to remove the "built-in" ATM from a filling station on the Ballygawley Road in Dungannon at around 4.15am.

The PSNI believes the digger was stolen from a business a short distance away. It was set on fire at the scene after the theft.

This ATM was also placed on a trailer being towed by a "jeep-type" vehicle.
