A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out on the body of a woman found in a house in Killygordon, Co Donegal.

The woman has been named as Jasmine McMonagle.

The 27-year-old was the mother of two young children, and was originally from Castlefinn in Donegal. 

A man in his 20s has been arrested in connection with the incident and is being held at Letterkenny Garda Station.

Gardaí were called to the house at Killygordon where Ms McMonagle lived in the early hours of this morning.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Deputy State Pathologist, Dr Linda Mulligan, carried out a preliminary examination at the house.

The body has been taken from the house for a post-mortem examination at Letterkenny University Hospital.

A team from the Garda Technical Bureau has also arrived at the house to conduct a forensic examination.
