The PSNI is investigating the abduction and assault of a teenage boy in Co Antrim.

Detectives say the 14-year-old was approached by three men and bundled into the back of a black car as he walked on the O'Neill Road in Newtownabbey last Saturday 4 August.

Police say the boy was assaulted inside the car, which was driven to the Rathcoole area, and attacked again when he was let out of the vehicle.

He was left badly shaken and sustained extensive bruising to his face, head and body.

One of the men was described as being around 1.85m (6'1") tall, of medium build with a deep, broad Belfast accent, who was wearing a light blue short-sleeved top, and dark jeans.

Police said it was a very disturbing incident and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
