A Northern Ireland-based pharmaceuticals company has announced that it is expanding its base in Co Louth.

Almac, which is based in Craigavon Co Armagh, will spend £30mn on a new laboratory and packaging facility for commercial drug products at its existing centre in Dundalk.

The Dundalk centre was established last year as part of Almac's global expansion strategy and to address any issues and challenges which may arise post Brexit.

Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation, Heather Humphreys said the investment was a great vote of confidence in Dundalk, especially coming so soon after the initial decision to develop an operation in the area.
