Two men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after another man was assaulted in north Belfast early today.
The PSNI said the 34-year-old victim was hit over the head with a hatchet during the incident in the Glenrosa Link area of Tigers Bay at 1.15am this morning.
The injured man was taken to hospital where his condition is described as stable at present.
The arrested men are both aged 26 and were detained shortly after the assault took place.
Police are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
