A 23-year-old man from Northern Ireland has been denied bail over charges in connection with an alleged human trafficking plot linked to the deaths of 39 people who were found in a container in Essex last October.

A bail hearing for Christopher Kennedy, from Darkley, Co Armagh, was held at Liverpool Crown Court this morning.

The 39 victims, who included two 15-year-old boys, were found on an industrial estate in Grays in Essex, about 32km east of London, in October.

They were mostly from Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces in north-central Vietnam.
