The economic fightback

It's St Patrick's week and the economic fightback starts here! Tonight we'll be shining a light on the sectors and the people that could form the basis of a new economic success for Ireland once the current crisis has been navigated.

The country can already boast some incredible statistics in aviation leasing, food, pharma, tourism and IT and has natural advantages in renewable energy and arts & culture that everyone seems to be agreed could produce a lot of money and a lot of jobs in years to come.

So who are the movers and shakers that could make it happen and how will the new Govt respond? Domhnall Slattery of aviation leasing company Avalon will be on our panel (did you know that half of the world's fleet of leased aircraft is managed from Ireland?) along with Paul Rellis of Microsoft (who will be telling us what cloud computing is and why it's the new IFSC) and Roise Goan from the Dublin Fringe Festival (who will tell us why people need to wake up to the business potential of Arts & Culture).

We've got a very lively audience including people working in these businesses and many others and in part two Jan O'Sullivan, newly appointed Minister of State at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade will be with us to outline how the new Govt will approach some of these challenges.

We'll also be reflecting the horrific developments in Japan and the anxiety over the nuclear dimension.
