Scottish voters are preparing to go to the polls on 18 September to decide if Scotland should be an independent country.
Whichever way the vote goes it will be historic.
A Yes vote would see the formation of a new country and the end of the formal union which has existed between Scotland and the UK since the 1700s.
A No vote will bring an end to a debate which has been part of Scottish politics for generations.
RTÉ's Fiona Mitchell will be examining the issues surrounding the historic vote in a series of online, radio and television reports.
