The next generation of New York City cabs is making its official debut today.
The Nissan NV200 model was selected from among three finalists in a city competition.
The cabs have a host of new features, including charging ports for passengers' electronics.
The car is a brighter yellow colour than current taxis. It is also easier for passengers to move around, because it has a flat floor without the hump.
The Nissan will be phased in starting October 2013 and is expected to fully replace all other cab models by 2018.
Nissan spokesperson Steven Oldham said: ''There's USB ports so you can charge your iPhone you can charge your iPad. There's floor lighting so if you drop something you can click the floor light on you'll be able to find it very easily.
''There's actually this new antimicrobial seat fabric in the back seat which will help with those unpleasant New York City odours that have come with taxis in the past.
''One of the cool new features is this new panoramic roof that while passengers are in the back seat they can look up and enjoy the New York City skyline.''
