Atlanta rescue operation for man stuck in mud

A rescue operation was launched after a man got stuck in mud in Atlanta, Georgia, last week.

Authorities said the man was walking in a construction site when he stumbled down into the mud.

Police say the man was not alert enough to explain how he lost his footing and ended up stuck horizontally in several inches of mud.

Firefighters struggled for nearly an hour to pull the man out with a series of ropes and a basket.

But the operation was hampered by the suction from several inches of mud - so strong it trapped a firefighter helping with the rescue.

Medics helped to clear the man's airways to help him breathe, before finally dragging him to safety.
