Trial of three people accused over Kerry murder set to begin

A jury has been selected for the trial of three people accused of the murder of a man in Kerry two years ago.

Gerard Kennelly, 44, died after being injured in a stabbing in Knockanure, near Listowel early hours of 27 May 2024.

Kieran Brady, aged in his 30s, from Athea, Co Limerick; Abigail Lynch, who is in her 20s, with an address at Glenview Terrace, Limerick, and Kane Hornyak, also aged in his 20s, of Doon Road, Ballybunion, have pleaded not guilty to the charge of murder.

A jury of six men and six women have been sworn in to hear evidence in the trial which is expected to last three weeks.

The trial is set to begin on Friday before Mr Justice Paul Burns at the Central Criminal Court sitting in Limerick.
