A man has been injured after a firearm was discharged at a house in Wexford town.

The incident took place at the property in the Coolcotts area on the outskirts of the town at around 11.30pm last night.

Bullet holes can be seen in the window of the downstairs front room.

A man, aged in his 50s, was taken to Wexford General Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Members of the Garda Technical Bureau are currently carrying out an examination at the scene.

Gardaí have set up an incident room at Wexford Garda Station and senior investigating officer has been appointed to lead the investigation.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward and contact them.

They particularly want to speak to anyone who was in the Coolcotts or surrounding areas between 10.30pm and 11.30pm last night.

Anyone with camera footage, including dash-cam, from the area at the time is asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
