Five injured after collision in Co Westmeath

Five people have been injured after a collision between a car and a van in Co Westmeath.

The collision occurred on the N62 at Ballinahown at around 1pm.

The van driver, a woman in her 40s, was taken to Regional Hospital Mullingar with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the car, a man in his late teens, was taken to the Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore, with non-life threatening injuries.

Three other men, aged in their 20s, who were also in the car, were taken to the same hospital following the collision.

The road was closed for a technical examination.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, particularly any road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) to contact Athlone Garda Station on 090 649 2600, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
