Boy, 3, dies after being hit by car at Dublin shopping centre car park

A three-year-old boy has died after being struck by a car in an underground car park at a shopping centre in north Dublin.

Gardaí were called to the scene at Charlestown Shopping Centre in Finglas at around 8.40am this morning.

The boy was taken by ambulance to Children's Health Ireland at Temple Street with serious injuries.

He died in hospital this afternoon.

The scene has been preserved, and a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators will take place.

Gardaí say a Family Liaison Officer has being appointed to support the boy's family.

They are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.
