Three people hospitalised after suspected arson attack in Cork

Gardaí in Cork city are treating as suspicious a house fire in the suburb of Ballyphehane that led to two adults and a child being treated for smoke inhalation.

The front door and hall of the house on Clarke's Road were damaged, after what is thought to have been a petrol bomb was thrown at the house at around half past six this morning.

Three units of Cork City Fire Brigade attended the scene and rescued the adults and the nine-year-old child.

The fire was brought under control quickly.

The three people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, before being transferred to hospital for observation. Their injuries aren't believed to be serious.

The house has been sealed off for a technical examination.
