A major archery event is set to draw hundreds of competitors from across Europe to Co Waterford.
The European Indoor Archery Championships will see 460 archers from over 20 countries shoot it out at the SETU Arena next week.
The Irish Field Archery Federation (IFAF), which is hosting the competition, said it promises to be a "showcase of precision, focus, and sporting excellence".
It also marks the first time that governing body, the International Field Archery Association (IFAA), will hold its European Indoor Championships in Ireland.
The organisers have said archery participation here continues to grow with 140 Irish archers among those taking to the shooting line next week.
They have also said that next week's competition will highlight the accessible and inclusive nature of the sport.
Mark Deevy, Ireland's International IFAA Representative, has said the significance of the decision to hold the competition here cannot be understated.
He said: "To see the European Indoor Archery Championships come to Waterford is something I'm incredibly proud of - both as Ireland’s International Representative and as someone who grew up here.
"With over 460 competitors taking part, including a record Irish contingent, this event highlights the strength of our sport and Waterford’s ability to host world-class international competition.
"We look forward to welcoming archers, officials, and spectators from across Europe to experience both the competition and true Irish hospitality," Mr Deevy added.
The IFAF also anticipates that the competition will bring a significant economic and tourism boost to the south east region.
Archers must have achieved a minimum of two classification scores to compete at the European Championships.
These scores are accumulated by archers taking part in competitions in their respective home countries.
The IFAA has said this qualification system allows even relatively new archers to participate at a European and world level, making the sport both accessible and aspirational.
The tournament begins next Monday with an official opening ceremony at the SETU Arena in Carriganore on the outskirts of Waterford city.
The actual competition comprising four days of shooting runs from Tuesday and concludes on Friday with the presentation of medals to the successful archers in each classification.
The organisers have said that admission is free and members of the public are welcome to fill the 160 seats in the spectator area overlooking the main competition hall next week.
