Detailed plans for a €7 million rejuvenation project at a former army barracks in Longford will go on display to the public this evening.
Connolly Barracks in Longford Town closed in 2009. It was one of five military posts to shut down that year, with most of the 130 soldiers posted there relocated to Athlone.
The 18-acre military site is now at the centre of a major regeneration project.
A county museum, café and community arts space will form part of the transformative plan.
The €7m in funding has been allocated to local authority bosses under THRIVE, an EU-led Town Centre First Heritage Revival Scheme.
People attending this evening's event will be able to see plans for the site and hear directly from the project team about progress on the project.
