A man's body has been discovered in a reservoir after a woman was found seriously injured in a house in Co Kildare.
Gardaí attended an incident at a house in Oaklawn West in Leixlip where a fire was extinguished.
A woman aged in her 50s was treated at the scene by emergency services before being taken to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown for treatment of serious injuries, gardaí said.
The scene was preserved pending a technical examination.
This morning shortly after 6am, the Garda Water Unit recovered the body of a man aged in his 50s from the Leixlip reservoir.
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to either incident to contact them.
Anyone who was in the areas of Oaklawn West, Leixlip, the N4 and the Leixlip reservoir between 5.30am and 8am and who may have video footage (including dash-cam) are asked to share it with gardaí.
