A woman has died following a road traffic collision on the outskirts of Monaghan town.
The collision involving a car and a truck took place on the N2 in Castleshane at around 2.45pm yesterday afternoon.
The driver of the car, a woman aged in her 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gardaí have said that a post-mortem examination will be arranged, and no other injuries were reported.
The road was closed for a period of time to allow for an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to take place but it has since reopened.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them.
They particularly want to speak to any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were traveling in the area between 2.30pm and 2.50pm yesterday afternoon.
