Tourist in serious condition after fall from Howth cliffs

An American tourist is in a serious condition in hospital after he fell almost 10 metres (30 feet) from cliffs in Howth yesterday evening.

It is understood the man, who is in his 20s, was climbing up a cliff from Whitewater beach when he fell from a significant height.

His family, who were with him, called emergency services and a multi agency operation was launched.

It involved the Coast Guard, Dublin Fire Brigade paramedics, gardaí and Howth RNLI.

He was airlifted from the beach and transferred to the Mater hospital, where he’s said to be in a serious but stable condition.
