A man has been arrested in connection with the death of a 21-year-old student who was killed when two cars collided in Castletroy, Co Limerick, last month.

Joe Drennan, a 4th year journalism student at the University of Limerick, and originally from Mountrath, Co Laois, died in the incident on 13 October.

He was standing waiting at a bus stop on the Dublin Road when he was struck and killed by a car that had collided with another car.

The man arrested is aged in his late teens.

He is currently being held for questioning under Section 42 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1999 at a garda station in Limerick city.
