A man has appeared in court charged in connection with an assault on Dawson Street in Dublin city centre which left a man in a critical condition.
Luiz Ramirez, 32, with an address at Carrickbrack Heath in Sutton, Dublin 13 was charged with assault causing harm.
Garda Kevin Cassidy of Pearse Street Garda Station gave evidence of arresting Mr Ramirez.
He told Judge Nicola Jane Andrews that Sergeant Justin Barker later charged the accused at the station and he made no reply when cautioned.
Mr Ramirez was granted bail on condition he surrender his passport and other travel documents within 24 hours at the station on Pearse Street and that he undertakes not to apply for new documents.
He was also told he must contact the injured party either directly or indirectly and that he must sign on at Howth Garda Station every Monday.
He was also required to provide a mobile phone number to gardaí and to keep it charged and switched on at all times.
Judge Nicola Jane Andrews remanded the accused on bail to appear Dublin District Court on 10 November and directed that an application for legal aid should be considered at that hearing.
