Gardaí in north County Cork are investigating an alleged sexual assault on a teenage girl.
A man in his 30s has been arrested for questioning.
The alleged incident happened at 1.20pm on Monday 7 February at Chapel Square, close to the centre of the north Cork town of Fermoy.
The girl's calls for help were heard by two young men who came to her assistance and a man fled the scene.
The girl was taken to hospital in Cork for treatment. Her injuries are not serious, but she is described as being traumatised.
One of the men who came to her assistance was also injured. He received treatment, but it is understood his injury is not serious.
Gardaí began an investigation and the area where the alleged incident happened was cordoned off.
A forensic examination took place there. CCTV footage from surrounding businesses has also been gathered.
Detectives have arrested a man in his 30s for questioning.
He is being questioned at Fermoy Garda Station and can be held for up to 24 hours.
It is understood that the girl and her attacker alleged were not known to each other and that the incident is being treated as a random attack.
