Gardaí say an operation is continuing on the Louth/Monaghan border after a shot was fired at a house.
Gardaí received reports of gunshots in the Arthurstown area of Ardee this morning.
They believe the gunman left the scene in a silver Toyota Avensis with the registration number 11 WW.
However, it is believed the suspect, who is known to gardaí, may have travelled over the border.
The Armed Support Unit, along with gardaí, remain in Ardee this evening.
The incident is not believed to be linked to the ongoing feud in nearby Drogheda.
