Cordons remain in place at Whitegate Oil Refinery in Cork

Cordons remain in place this lunchtime at Whitegate, as empty oil tankers in batches of six under garda escort have been steadily arriving en route for the Oil Refinery in the coastal village.

Barriers remain in place in the village, which has a strong garda presence.

Whitegate village has traffic diversions in place, reports Jennie O'Sullivan.

However, no check points are visible at the moment.
