Dublin West encompasses everything from the Phoenix Park to affluent areas around Castleknock to more disadvantaged areas, according to the Pobal index, around Blanchardstown, Corduff and Tyrellstown as well as the Celtic Tiger developments of Ongar.

A small population of 2,284 around Blanchardstown and Abbotstown come into the constituency from Dublin North-West as it gains an extra seat to return five TDs for the first time.
