More housing to bring migrants home - Harris

Taoiseach Simon Harris has said that he feels very passionately about young people wanting to return to Ireland from Australia.

He said that he has spoken to parents across the country who want their children to return home.

"They have a future in this country, they have a very bright future in this country, we need them in this country" he said.

He vowed to "ramp up housing supply further, as we refuse to pull the rug from under first-time buyers that other parties wish to do".

"I really hope we can convince the generation that have suffered so much because of the political mistakes of those who went before us, in terms of the economic crash and the scars that still lie from that," he added.

"I'm really hoping that we can get to that situation where parents in Ireland don't have that fear and don't have that concern and that's very much a commitment."
